I’ve just been on an amazing trip to the North of Scotland. The first week was tree-planting in Glen Moriston, near Loch Ness with an inspirational charity called Trees for Life – see www.treesforlife.org.uk.  We were then exploring the West Coast of the Highlands. A true ecological highlight was the island of Eigg, where a community buy-out has meant they have made an remarkable attempt at all things green – see www.isleofeigg.org and www.islandsgoinggreen.org.  We stayed in the beautiful Glebe Barn – see www.isleofeigg.net/glebebarn/index.htm recommended by Alastair Mackintosh, an eco-warrior with a deep love of life – do try to read his book ‘Soil and Soul’!
